The Roots Music Gospel Jam & Concert is a chance for people to play and sing old gospel songs in the roots music tradition of the community sing. The event started as a small jam on the front lawn of a Baptist church. The jam attracted a few musicians but quickly attracted a large clapping and foot-
The program has now become more of a concert than a jam as it offers visiting singers and spectators an evening of music in a genre that is hard to find these days. The Jam is spirited and audience interactive with stories, contests, and fun activities. The evening has included everything from clogging contests on a bubble-
We have a core group of musicians and singers that play through a sound system but everyone is encouraged to sit in the front row and play along.
If you're a beginner, there will likely be other more advanced musicians to help you along. If you're not a player but like old time gospel music, please tell a friend and come spend an evening with us. There is nothing we like better than a room full of folks singing along!
We break the evening into two sections. The first section is a traditional gospel sing where we play songs that entice the audience to sing along. This fun time comes with lots of shukkin', stories, contests and prizes.
